Question: How long has Institute of Nails been open?

Answer: Institute of Nails has been teaching classes since 1995, before the state mandated a 300 hour program in the year 2000.

Question: What qualifications do your instructors have?

Answer: We have 4 instructors that teach part-time between the day and evening classes. Heather Swenson has been with the school since 2002 and is an Advanced Master Nail Technician through Creative Nail Design. Jessica Cutshall has been a Nail technician for 12 years and specializes in French Radicals and colored acrylics. Nancy Bumann also has 12 years experience and owns her own salon called Ten twenty. Nancy also employees 2 of our former students full time. Rondee Roth has 3 years experience and holds a business degree. All of our instructors must attend a minimum of 40 hours a year of continuing education.

Question: What should I expect to learn at Institute of Nails?

Answer: You are required to attend a minimum of 300 hours to attain your diploma. Those hours are divided among theory and practical. You will learn the fundamentals of the history of nails, sanitation, diseases and disorders, chemistry, electricity, business and much more. As for the practical portion of your schooling, you will be taught manicures, pedicures, acrylics, wraps, gels, rebalances and backfills. You will also learn the proper electric filing procedures.

Question: I work different hours at my job every week, can I still attend the classes?

Answer: Yes, we are able to accommodate people who have work schedules that vary week to week. Institute of Nails offers flexible hours to fit your needs.

Question: Are there any payment plans?

Answer: Payment plans are offered through the school. You may make weekly or biweekly payments without interest. Tuition must be paid in full prior to graduation. We also offer career training loans which may better fit your needs. Please call for an appointment to meet with our admissions personnel to discuss available options.

Question: How many students are there per class?

Answer: To make sure you receive the best education possible we limit our class size to 5 students per class.

Question: Will there be homework?

Answer: On occasion there may be some homework. We try to allow time for you to complete your homework at school, but, sometimes you may have to bring it home. Although we try to review with you at school, you may need to allow time to study for your tests at home.

Question: Do I need to furnish models?

Answer: You are required to attain models for free services. You will be told when a model is required and for what service. If you are unable to bring in a model from time to time, we may be able to assist you with a list of people who are willing to volunteer.

Question: What happens after I complete my 300 hours?

Answer: After you fulfill your 300 hours of class time, pay your tuition in full, pass the written and practical exams, fulfill the required time for hands-on experience, you will be issued a diploma. We will help you complete the paperwork for the state and you will need to submit your information to the state of Nebraska. Once approved to take your test through them, you can then set up your day and time to take the state required exam. After you pass the state required test they will issue you your license to perform Nail Technology services.
